floor_a.png is normally a line just stretched vertically across the floor and floor_b.png the same only stretched horizontaly by combining the two it creates a sharp square grid. There have been people who thought they could use this to create a very sharp unique floor.

There are a number of things you can do, as a player, to make the game easier, more fun, or to totally thrash yourself. Here are some of them.

Double Binding
Double Binding is a common technique where you can press two keys at once to turn around quickly.

Custom Camera
Are you tired of smart cam? Don't like in-cam? Wouldn't you like to have your own cam?

Camera Glance Keys
Use them! By default they are bound to the arrow keys.

Sparks
Turn them off! Its a nifty feature to have but once you turn them off you'll get a better sence of grinding, knowing where other players are, and you get a nice consistent boost in frames per seconds.

Lag
It's here until Luci makes link from the main page to it. Something like "System"?

Here are a few games that people like to play on the grid. Some of them are popular enough to have their own pages, others are just listed here.

Roulette
Roulette has its own page.

Laps
In this game two or more players race around grinding the outer "rim" wall. The players try to go around the grid as many times as possible without dying. The person grinding the outer "rim" wall is said to be "inside" while players grinding on his wall are the "outside" or "middle" (depending if more then two are playing). The "outside" player(s) grind as close to the outer "rim" wall as possible and try not to kill the "inside" player. The toughest part in this "game" is being the "inside" player and turning corners after the "outside" player(s) has(/have) already started grinding the wall perpindicular to the one the "inside" player is currently grinding.

Mazing
Mazing is a game played with one or more players. For a normal(square) maze you create a large square and instead of going outside(turning away from the square or going around it) on the fourth turn you turn inside of the large square you continue spiraling towards the center until you have no more room then you turn back and spiral outside of the square. This game has been tweaked by many players. Some tweaks involve spiraling out at the beggining of the game then going back in and back out once more. Another is on a server with less then infinity walls continuing to spiral in and out until you mess up. Mazing was also one of the beginnings of the roulette style of play-game.

There have been several maze designs other then a square that are worth trying. For instance rectangles, boxes with dents(inward and outward) in them, crosses etc.
