AFL Schedule

2007-07-24T20:50:11Z

82.152.121.222: /* The Schedule */

AFLTbl

This is the in-progress schedule for the July short season.

Schedule Notes
Times are provided in two columns. The first column is GMT and is not adjusted for daylight savings. This is the canonical time, and any mistakes made translating to other time zones are mistakes, GMT will be used to resolve such mistakes. The second column is the time in New York City and Toronto, which will be EDT for the short July season. For other seasons, daylight savings adjustments will happen mid-season, and this column should always reflect the correct time in New York City and Toronto for the given time in GMT. This should help to accomodate North Americans, and for those who do not follow federal US daylight savings practices, you should be able to work from the time in either New York City, Toronto, or GMT. For anybody in the US, you probably already know your own local time in relation to New York City.

Scheduling Practices
Each game is allotted 1 hour of playtime. Games can run late, and a team failing to show up for a game when scheduled back to back is excused if the first game runs late. This could upset a busy schedule, so please adhere to the schedule! However, a team that shows up late to the first game and causes the second game to run late could face forfeiting the second game. You only get the pass if you showed up on time in good faith for the first game, and the first game legitimately ran late.

Games will be scheduled on Wednesdays and Sundays, in GMT. For North Americans, this means the games are scheduled Tuesday evenings through Wednesday afternoons and Saturday evenings through Sunday afternoons.

Special note about terminology: We use GMT for convenience, but some of you may have learned UTC. The difference between UTC and GMT is about 30 seconds every now and then, and therefore irrelevant for our purposes. However, since many of us use internet time servers to synchronize our clocks, when we say GMT, we actually use UTC, since UTC is what the internet time servers transmit.

The Schedule
Two notes about the schedule. Marked so far are the days that games can be scheduled, with two exceptions. The Ladle plays on the first Sunday of every month, we need to find out which day in July it's going to play on. Durka's TST is timed to run two weeks after the Ladle. We want to avoid collisions with both tournaments so that AFL members can participate in the other tournaments.

I was just thinking that it would be nice to have a mini tournament of 4 clans that all play at the same time. It would be more of a 4-way-clanwar. I'm posting the tournament here on the wiki so everyone could see it. I hope to do many of these mini 4-way-clanwars.So basically the war will take place in my server called 4 Team Fourtress {By WPN Clan}. On the day of the war I will change the name to 4 Way Clan War {WPN vs CT vs WS vs SP}. Not too complicated. (This server is located in Germany just if you were wondering.)

The first 4 clans that sign up for this tourney are the only 4 that can. If your clan doesn't sign up, wait for the next tourney.There will be 4 players per team. Write down 4 players that you KNOW CAN MAKE IT! Then write down 2 alternates that will be on stand-by if one person can't make it.It will be first clan to win 5 matches wins the tourney. Each match is up to 200 points.

Please pick a team captain for each clan

The date and time will be determined by the team captains using the discussion section of this topic. That's about it. If you have any questions just post them in the discussion section of this topic. ---Durka

Organization
Ok so it looks like we have all the teams and players. I'm going to set the date for Sunday, September 17th at 10:00 pm GMT. Team captains please meet in the 4 Team Fortress Tourney 1 - Chat Room 30 minutes before the start. Then begin organizing your team around 15-20 minutes before the start. We will only start when there are 4 people for each team meaning that there are 16 people in the server. I will be kicking people that take up that 16th spot until we get all 16 people in there. If you have any questions, post them here. --- Durka

Communication
The communication system we will be using is the 4 Team Fortress Tourney 1 - Chat Room. Just click the link and sign in using your name. That's it. Team captains should periodically pop in there in the days leading up to the tourney to see if anyone is in there discussing things. On Sunday, September 17th TEAM CAPTAINS SHOULD GO INTO THAT CHAT ROOM 30 MINUTES BEFORE THE START OF THE TOURNAMENT!!! (AT 8:30 PM GMT...TOURNEY STARTS AT 9:00 PM GMT) --- Durka

Challenge Board

2006-09-03T16:45:04Z

82.152.121.222:

Ladle
The Challenge Board is designed to make the pairing off of team easier. Team Captains should take careful note of how to best use this system.

Please note, it is for Team Captains only to issue challenges by locating their teams appropriately on the board. If they can not do this here, they will have to do it on the day in less than 5 mins, so... be cool and be brave...

Your placement of the team determines who you are playing in the first round and subsequent rounds if you win. If, for example, with only two teams listed, then one team must be listed in team 1-8 and the other in team 9-16. As more teams join, the placement will determine who you will play in subsequent rounds and on which servers. Check this listing ocassionally, alter your team-place if you wish, until it settles and we are ready to play on Sun 3rd September.

Please do not replace another team-name with yours. Only fill vacant spaces. In this way, Team Captains have a way of jockeying for position.

We seem to have five teams, so...

* Team 1 is... anarchic wanderers
* Team 2 is...
* Team 3 is...
* Team 4 is...
* Team 5 is... LOL
* Team 6 is... WPN
* Team 7 is...
* Team 8 is... CT

Provisional Play-offs
Do not insert names of teams here. This is merely the structure and timing of the games. The actual teams which will be playing against one another will be based on the Challenge Board above and the Team Captains which register their teams at before the first game on Sun 3rd September.

Note, the server allocation may change, especially as we move through into the quarters and semi finals depending on Team Captain discussion on the day. Check out LADLE fortress-servers available.

Note also, we might by-pass the first round if we have 8 teams or less... which is what the state of play is currently...

Quarter Finals 7.30pm GMT
* Team 1 challenges Team 2 on LOD Fortress Server or Z-man's Tournament Fortress
* Team 3 challenges Team 4 on AST or US Fortress Server
* Team 5 challenges Team 6 on Bugfarm LOD Server or Wildwest -- Fortress (ladle)
* Team 7 challenges Team 8 on AST or Dark Syndicates Fortress

Semi Finals 8.15pm GMT
* Team 1/2 challenges Team 3/4 on LOD Fortress Server
* Team 5/6 challenges Team 7/8 on AST or US Fortress Server

Finals 9pm GMT
* Team 1/2/3/4 challenges Team 5/6/7/8 on LOD or US Fortress

Stick your name down on a list, or start your own team. Based on player feedback, we are going to stick to 5 players per team and we are going to try to organise the timing a little better so that the day (Sun 3rd September) runs smoothly...

Please indicate a captain. Check out the Challenge Room for the way the play-offs are organised.
