The Academy is a wiki page that is intended to connect new players who want to learn specifically fortress to experienced players who want to teach them in a server, one on one. It's a simple connection. To edit this page you must Register in the ArmagetronAd wiki. This is mostly painless procedure, and actually its really quick.

Both Students and Teachers list times they are available and how best to be reached. When a teacher and a student see a match they can pm/email each other and connect. They go to a fortress server, even if it's empty and teaching goes on. This is all self-organized, just like the Ladle. For convenience: Current Time GMT

  • In Grid Name, email (dot) emailserver (at) com, ArmagetronAd forum name (if you have one), spoken languages

About and Ideals

This is not really at all important since the above is self-organized. This is my pitch to potential teachers looking for reasons to take time out of their schedule. However, the benefits of playing from the Academy as opposed to just going in game are great. The Academy gives a new player three things. The first is apparent, it eases the steep learning curve and gives them a head start into Fortress. The second, a little deeper than the first, is that it gives them a experience Fortress player to connect to, a name in the crowd to latch on to. Immediately, from the start, they are part of the Fortress community. Community is a strong reason for all of us to play, alongside the gameplay itself. The third gift is a little experience self-organizing in the style they will need to for Ladles, Bowls, and Cups.
