The PRU or PLZ RES US!-Clan was founded in the end of 2008 by Opeth and Word. The name comes from an annoying instant message that is now a characteristic attribute of the clanmembers, but it was also spelled as "Pee Are You". While many other clans were founded in the meantime, PRU is still alive and most of its members are active. PRU is also well known to have some of the best Capture The Flag-players, such as tomb, CCC, uffie, Hell-lo, and AI Team.
+
PRU is one year old now.

I wrote the following text some weeks ago. It's already outdated since some people left the clan while others joined, but it gives you an idea about who we are.

The "Prutopolis" servers are hosted in Trier, Germany (by bammestechtalk.de) and known as the European alternative to the "Wild West"-servers. All players are welcome as long as they accept the rules and don't teamkill/insult other players. When players show their disrespect they will be banned instantly if an admin is there, or they get kicked by the usual voting process. Basecampers aren't a problem for the server since it has auto-respawns (respawn_time 0.1).
+
This text is for those who expect me to make a speech about it ;) .
Some other differences in contrast to the Wild West's version are the zombie zones that are sometimes activated there and the bad effect of holing on the score. If the admins detect a player using macros to kill other players, he will be banned too.
+
do the same if you like to :P

Since 8. Jan. 2009 the clan stopped recruiting trainees ("prunees") because the majority of the clanmembers and the two leaders "had to react on the increasing number of applications that came from noobs" (Word). In the clan's opinion, these players think they seem stronger when they are part of a clan with a good reputation. In general, PRU recruits still from time to time players with skills on a very high level.

The clanmembers are also quite active on the clansite, http://www.pruclan.forums1.net (which is currently changing to http://www.trongame.de), the site admin is AI Team, the moderators are Word and Opeth. To avoid imposters, the clan leaders invented questions to give evidence for their identity.

The clan founded some new divisions and its repertoire contains a sumo, dog fight, high rubber, death match, fortress and capture the flag division.

When Opeth and I discovered ctf in fall 2008 there were was this annoying ctk clan, and there was FC Liverpool with his "plz res us!"-instant chat. We associated clans with something dumb and annoying. Clans were bad. Period.
 +
It seemed as if there are always the same clans dominating the server.
 +

 +
So, one day Opeth asked me if we should found a clan and we thought about a name, and I said PLZ RES US.
 +
We invited most ctfers we knew at that time, starting with Ai, Cino, tags, CCC and tomb.
 +
I was surprised and I'm thankful how they made the clan popular in a short while. Ai had set up a forum after less than a week and bammes, a schoolfriend of me, hosted our own servers.
 +
Opeth and I used emails to talk about the players we could invite next, we wrote some large lists and our plans included almost all good ctfers of that time, such as Monkey or Gaspard (who joined two months ago - it's never too late, Monkey ;) ), Hell-lo, norT and Sliktor.
 +
I highly regard tags', Opeths and CCC's posts on the old forum - they led to everything we are today, and we can still learn from lots of things CCC posted and I still hope somewhere that he comes back one day.
 +
As you can see on the old clansite, it isn't a big deal when I say that we started as a fun clan. We were really unorganised at start, most of us were forum n00bs, especially I.
 +
In the meantime Ai tweaked the servers and began to make a new forum - by February 09 at the latest we accomplished everything we had planned - less to get some sort of prestige or a good reputation, but out of the fun we had. We had our own site, our own servers (4-8), an irc and teamspeak channel, a clan video, and lots of members.
 +
I think at least I grew up while we made the clan and I'm happy that the result can still be seen.

Our first applicant was Jimpan, and somehow I'm sad because of all that happened later (but all in all it's irreversible).
 +
Since then we were growing bigger and bigger - there were times when we got flooded with apps (my personal favourite is stilland it's no wonder that we accepted most of them at times we were short in teammates for ctf tourneys.
 +
We used our first months to improve our teamwork in Capture The Flag (Ai became one of the most dangerous contemporary ctfers - according to himself ;) ), but we also tried to get better at Fortress, Sumo and Dog Fight - four completely different game modes.
 +
We intended to run a progressive clan and when we started, we tried to achieve this by taking part in almost every tourney that came up - sure, we didn't win everything but we had fun and we gained some team experience.
 +
It took long to convince Rage and Absynth until they finally joined but who'd associate Absynth with NH today? ;)
 +

 +
But this view became a problem after a while and CCC left the clan because of it; we didn't really stop to accept people (although we didn't invite them), somehow we all were against it but didn't really do a thing.
 +
Then tags and Opeth left the clan and I wasn't sure if it means that the clan is going to die and what I'm going to do next. CTF just wasn't the same it was when we made the clan, there were lots of unfriendly addicts and I honestly didn't like to deal with them either (Zelos, Chiko and all).
 +
I felt guilty that CCC, Opeth and Tags left but I also hoped they would have said something before, and done more against this (next time just say who you don't like! XD). Certainly, there are lots of things I would like to make amends for, but I don't because I know it wouldn't change anything. I don't know whether it's pure coincidence, but I remember that I called it "the crisis of PRU", because it started at the same time as the financial one  (here in Germany, at least) .
 +
However, Ai and I led the clan for the next months and we got a lot of members again, while other clans died (FW, Nw, D, Qp and so many others which I forgot). The first offspring clans came up, starting with 7, U, BS, vZ and some others. After Eggman and Suenos joined, Ai and Slov/Mako (still can't get used to it :( ) weren't the only dog fighters anymore and they had some successful matches there. Eggman even won compguygene's HR tournament!

 +
If you're an applicant and you happen to read this text, you'll find that our clan was pretty much drama-free so far. We didn't have a hacker or something comparable.
 +

 +
We are social beings and we are responsible for ourselves. You can complain about lots of things that went wrong in our clan, the usual errors and misunderstandings that can happen wherever to humans coexist aren't an exception. But I think if there's one thing we can really be proud of, it is modesty (and I'm gonna kill it with this post  ). We have lost often enough so we aren't endangered to become sore losers or sniffy winners.
 +
So, the story wasn't over, we still had some good members we could count on, Although my enthusiasm was a bit broken, I admit I never desired that we would become one of these idiotic 1337 clans, a kind of tron police or a big noob family. In my opinion we are still something inbetween. It's true, we have about 20 active members but that's what I consider a solid pool for every tourney.
 +
And with paperclip, freetosk8brd, freako, Slashy, Longball and Unholy we became stronger at fortress, while we had already a good sumo team whose first members were Mufo and Joker. And our ctf division was still growing with oddeuro and I thought it would need some rest after Leviathan joined, but it lasted only 2 days until he said he'd found his own clan. Sometimes it took longer than necessary until we learned out of our mistakes. Again we had let someone in too quickly and made an exception.
 +

 +
All the events we take part in these days wouldn't be possible with a small group of 8 players; the Fortress Premier League for example. And there weren't a lot of CTF tourneys in the past, mostly because of the 1vs1 shit that started two months ago.
 +
Tags once pointed out that we are one of the most diverse clans. This is something we can be happy about; it's obvious that we all have a different cultural, social or religious background and neither don't mind playing together nor attack each other in the way several other clan people do. And whenever we play in an American or European server we have the choice.
 +

 +
Of course we had problems too, in most cases with players who left the clan. Such things happen. But some of these stories could have been foreclosed. I mean, for example, Saffia said when she left "I never really liked Word" (3rd person here cause i was there under alias), and it's this duplicity which I disliked: if that was the case, then why did she join us and not one of the clans which lord themselves over others? On the other side I regret what happened to HSP because he really liked the clan but somehow it wasn't the right choice for him and for us and we both knew that.
 +

 +
We just didn't win many tourneys, which was probably the reason why some people quit.
 +

 +
Opeth summarized the problem very well: "we have tons of skill but no teamplay". This is what we need, and we are improving.
 +
We have everything we need, now let's just use it! (didn't like to leave out the something-to-do-with-optimism-part at the end :P )
 +

 +
Presently there are a few events and projects we have yet to work on. You'll find that I added most of it to the to-do-list. There's the Map Contest, the Tronic Gallery or Hall Of Fame and a Deathmatch-/NoRubber- or CTF-Tournament we will organize soon (or maybe all 3), Zurd and Ai are working on a new website design (and they continue where Saffia left off).
 +
Anyway, here are the resolutions I make for next year
 +
Suenos, Eggman, host, Rage and paperclip will hopefully start more clanwars next year, and this time we have a better fort team. Time to raise the bar :) . I also have hopes that some old members like NyX or uffie return one day (i miss them :| ).

Thanks to all who raised and supported the clan!

PRU is one year old now. I wrote the following text some weeks ago. It's already outdated since some people left the clan while others joined, but it gives you an idea about who we are.

This text is for those who expect me to make a speech about it ;) . do the same if you like to :P

We are old now - wow!

Maybe I should write something about our history first, to express what i'm proud of.

When Opeth and I discovered ctf in fall 2008 there were was this annoying ctk clan, and there was FC Liverpool with his "plz res us!"-instant chat. We associated clans with something dumb and annoying. Clans were bad. Period. It seemed as if there are always the same clans dominating the server.
