This is a page to talk about stuff for players. I didn't write anything because I know you all are just dying to write all your secrets in this wiki. ;)

The Object of the Game

A brief introduction to Armagetron Advanced.

For Beginners

The Basics

A guide for players new to the game that want to improve their abilities.

What is this 'doublebinding' and why can't i do it?

Z and X allow you to turn left and right hehehe - you knew that :P However, if you want to reach 'veteran' status rapidly, i suggest you use FOUR keys.

That is, two keys for left and two keys for right!

For instance, to turn left you can use Z and X, and to turn right you use C and V. Then you can do something called doublebinding (there is triplebinding and quadbinding, but you can do those if you want). Try pressing Z and X together, or C and V together.

You may have noticed that lots of players seem to 'get stuck' in their walls and go up and down them to increase speed really quickly - that's called the 180* or Slingshot - and you can do it two. Just turn left twice, then twice again! Then turn right twice and hey presto you're against the line, now turn left twice... then right twice... you should understand what i'm talking about when you are actually playing the game.

Please remember also, this only is profoundly useful in 'HIGH-RUBBER' servers. Rubber allows you to touch a wall for a longer period of time. -X3r

Building Your Skillset

A top-level how-to that explains the base set of skills needed and gives some pointers on how to develop those skills. By focusing on skills and leaving tactical discussions to other articles, a new player will have a way to evaluate their overall progress in the game.

Teamplay

Learning to play in a team. Also, why good behavior is important in this and any other internet activity.

Game Concepts

A discussion of important game concepts.

Rubber

What is rubber, anyway? I have a gauge for it, but what does it mean?

Scale

What is the scale of the arena? How fast am I really going? How long are my walls, if not infinite?

Team Tactics

For all types of game, here's what you need to know to win or lose without pissing off your teammates.

Fortress Tactics

This is different enough from Team Tactics to get its own page. Most team tactics apply here, but fortress tactics put a whole new take on things.

Animated Tactics

Watch and Learn!

Moviepacks

A canonical list of moviepacks and other modifications available.

Grid Games

Sometimes players like to play games that are a bit different than the regular game. Maybe you've seen it and you thought they were camping? Maybe you've tried to play along and had a spot of trouble? Read here to find out all about it.

Game Variations

These are settings that allow for different game play styles or modes.

Lag

Page about lag.

Lag, in it's own right, is HIDEOUS! There are numerous ways of fixing lag however, do please do not worry. First of all, in armagetron, when you enter INTERNET GAMES there is a option called NETWORK SETTINGS.

Go into NETWORK SETTINGS, and try increasing the 'bit rates' to around 13 if you have a fast connection - you can increase it to maximum if you have an extra high-speed connection.

However if you have a SLOW connection, such as a 56k modem, you could try lowering the bitrates right down to... 3 or 4 - then it may be slightly slower, but you won't lose packets as much and therefore you should get less lag! I hope this helps.
