A bunch of players organise themselves to meet on existing servers, competing in Fortress teams, until the final team wins THE TRONIC SPOON. Feel free to add to the list under any category and please remember that all editions are constructive.

preparations

This version of tronic is a matter of organising ourselves rather than requiring any technical assistance from developers. It is about us as players. If we put in the preparation, advertise what we are doing on the forums, in clan forums too, advising people what the plan is, the day should run smoothly enough.

team formation

Most Armagetron players have had experience playing in teams, though because of the intensity of the game, a few players with good skills, have been intimidated out of the Fortress. One of the most important goals of the day is to develop teams. This means that players are supported by their friends and teammates, and any abuse that comes at them will be from opponents, which is kind of expected from some people. And the best way to deal with this intimidation is to gell as a team, play well, and respond by winning. So, there are a few ways of finding your teammates...

server allocation

Perhaps there will only be one Fortress Server: CVS, but it would be nice to have several with the same settings. The number of servers available and the number of players on the day will determine how the competition pans out.

the event

It should be a fun day, with a lot of familiar names, and a buzz about the place. One month after the release of 0.2.8.0 is 15/16 April.

tracking team-pairings

There may be more than 16 players who want to play, that is more than two teams. If there are more than two teams, there must be some way to organise ourselves. If there is only one server, the CVS Test Server, then players will have to agree to play sequentially. Otherwise, we can set up simultaneous games on different servers.

feasible round-period timing

How many matches will determine the winning team? It may be useful to think about the final competition, so to play for an hour or two is feasible now with so few numbers of teams, it becomes unrealistic if there are 64,000 teams in a year's time...

other ideas which don't fit the categories that well

Feel free to create any new categories as well list ideas and mechanisms that don't fit the format above. Make use of the discussion options for each page, and use the forums to voice ideas to see if anyone else has been thinking the same things you have been...
