Talk:Artemis SPOON

From Armagetron

Not sure how editing the talk pages and how this might be useful to discuss things, but I don't want to change Lucifer's page, though I would like to query it.

dates

I think it is a shame the dates don't fit because one of the primary motivating mechanisms for me is the whole tronic spoon ladle bowl cup thing. For some reason that tronic ideas excites me and Lucifer's timing kind of threatens to throw that off whack.

I know you, Lucifer, probably don't think the idea practical or even appreciate it as a funny notion but I would appreciate if you accomodate my... fanciful notion.

I hope you understand: it is kind of like a dream for me... kind of makes me smile... I mean z-man and you guys can die happy having designed such a brilliant game, and I would like to die happy too... :)

2020 :)

  • Consider the days I put more like "what if" than set in stone. Um, I'm not going to be able to personally commit to a day, and I don't see this thing really coming off if it's all stuck into 2 days. :) I could be wrong, I've been known to be wrong before, but having tried to organize tournaments before, I know how hard it is to get even 4 players together, and we're talking 5 per team.
  • I don't completely understand the spoon/bowl/ladle thing you've got going, I'll admit. I"m just wanting this to be something practical we can play, and I'll love to accommodate your notion as much as you want. :) But do us a favor and make sure we get something practical? --Lucifer 20:40, 22 March 2006 (CST)
  • I think I'm starting to grok the spoon/ladle/bowl thing now. So there's only ever supposed to be one single SPOON competition, is that right? IF that's the case, then this artemis_spoon crap doesn't need to exist. :) --Lucifer 03:57, 23 March 2006 (CST)

grok? Yup, just the one competition, then feedback, then we go onto the next thing... feedback... then the next etc, until we have 1,000,000 players... crazy yes, but what a funny idea.. because if people can organise themselves in one weekend or even a day... then what's to stop them doing it the following year, or month, or even week?
I know how tricky things are to organise if you do them centrally, what I am wondering is... can we organise ourselves in a different way... and i suspect self-organising methods are available to us... if we are courageous enough to think them up and put them into practice... I suspect it is like some giant kind of trust-game... Practical then...you know the way boxers have managers who organise fights... like that but taking a few minutes... that is, each team captain or facilitator or face or representative or exemplar or whatever you want to call them, meet up in a chat room like environment eg in Second Life or some IRC place, and establish a game with an appropriate exemplar from another team, ascertain an available server that both agree, and then they have their match... The arrangements should take a max of 10 mins, and the game say 15 mins... though these times may be too short... perhaps we can afford to play for half an hour... the winners go and write up their result in the virtual chatroom and arrange to play against another team which won... does this sound practical to you...?
