What the FFA is

The Fortress-for-All tournament is a Fortress competition inspired by the Fortress Brawl, Ladle, Spoon, and "pickup" games. The idea is to get players who don't always have the opportunity or the will to play in the Ladle to experience the intensity and excitement that comes along with it. Frequently, in the Ladle, a team will sign up with well over 6 players (the minimum required to have a team) and only 6-7 of those players actually get to play. The others are forced to spectate with stars in their eyes wondering when they'll be able to play on the big stage. Well, that's what the point of this tournament is. Anyone, whether you have a clan/Ladle team or not, is encouraged to participate in this tournament. There are *NO* previous requirements to sign up.

How it works - Signups

Anyone who wants to play is more than welcome to sign up. There are going to be 48 initial spots to sign up. This will equate to 8 teams of 6 players each. Once the allotted 48 spots are filled up, there will be no more spaces. In addition to signing up as a Player, 8 people need to sign up as a Captain. Anyone who wishes to be a captain may nominate themselves, but please - be very knowledgeable about fort and willing to put in the effort of organizing your team to its highest capabilities.

Regarding Substitutions

Some players will inevitably show up on the day of the tournament with the desire to play. Teams will be drafted from the initial 48 players who signed up. When the beginning of the tournament nears, Captains are responsible for replacing any players who have not shown up before their first match is scheduled. If a missing player shows up prior to the end of the first series of matches, that player must be given their spot back on the team. If a substitute is needed, it is a requirement that the substitute be signed in to their own Global ID. Op-ing players who substitute is forbidden and will result in the disqualification of any matches that player participated in. The practice of "firing" a team member and artificially substituting them is strictly forbidden, and the consequences will be forfeiture, regardless of progress.

How it works - Teams

Captains will self-volunteer during the last six days prior to the tournament (Sunday through Saturday). These captains will be required to have an IRC client for the choosing of teams. The channel that will be used is #armagetron.tourneys . If a captain does not have an IRC client downloaded, the online client HERE is to be used. A time will be decided to amongst the captains to draft their teams either on the Saturday before the tournament or the Sunday morning before the tournament. The teams will then be posted to the wiki and players will be encouraged to begin strategizing with their teammates. All assignments are final and swaps amongst teams are strictly prohibited.
